Walk through Granada, story by story

From the centre to the Albaicín, from the Darro to the slopes of Sacromonte, Granada tells its stories through changing perspectives. Walk through memory, poetry and neighbourhoods that deserve more than a glance towards the Alhambra.

Start with “The Alhambra from Outside: Hill, Woods and Gates”. You don't need a ticket to start understanding the Alhambra. From Plaza Nueva you climb the Cuesta de Gomérez between guitar workshops, pass through the gate where a ragged fellow introduced himself to Washington Irving as a "son of the Alhambra", and head into a wood that has been an emperor's promenade, a road for funeral carts and a ballroom hung with lanterns.

Then there’s “The Upper Albaicín: from San Nicolás to the Puerta de Elvira”. There's more to the Albaicín than the viewpoint. You start in the Plaza del Salvador, in the courtyard where the quarter used to pray, which outlived both the mosque and the fire, and in the little square where, in 1499, an uprising was stopped by an archbishop on foot, carrying nothing but a cross.

For another side of the city, try “Central Granada: the Cathedral, the Alcaicería and Bib-Rambla”. Central Granada looks like a postcard, and it's full of clues. You start at the statue of Mariana Pineda, who was never imprisoned in that square, and at the corner where a group of friends, Lorca among them, invented a poet.

Keep exploring with “Legends of the Darro: from Santa Ana to the Paseo de los Tristes”. The Carrera del Darro is narrow, beautiful and full of stories told in a low voice. You start where the river comes out from under the city, with a song that has spent centuries warning that one day it will carry off Plaza Nueva.

Choose by neighbourhood or by the stories that interest you: each route shows its distance, stops and approximate duration before you set off. The audio is written for walking, with a clear distinction between documented events and local legend. Download it in the app, put on your headphones and pause whenever something catches your eye. English and Spanish are included.

The Alhambra from Outside: Hill, Woods and Gates

Climb to the Alhambra without a ticket: guitar makers, a wood with secrets, a gate that moved up from the city, the hand and the key, and the house where Falla went looking for silence.

How many days do I need in Granada?

Our Granada guide has suggestions for one, two and three days. Start with one area rather than trying to fit every walk into a day; leave room for travel between neighbourhoods and any indoor visits.

Can I explore Granada on foot?

Hills: Albaicín, Sacromonte and the Alhambra demand uphill walking. The lower centre is gentler, though not entirely flat. Underfoot: cobbles and steps; attractive stone patterns do not guarantee grip. Slow down in rain.

Which Granada route is free?

“The Alhambra from Outside: Hill, Woods and Gates” is the free route: 11 stops over 1.18 km, with an approximate duration of 53 minutes. You can see its map and stops on the route page.

When is a good time to visit Granada?

For several neighbourhood walks: spring or autumn, without assuming every evening will be mild. March or April · Holy Week: processions and busy central streets; allow for detours.

Can I listen without an internet connection?

Download the audio in the app before heading out, then listen offline. Loading the online base map and calculating a new route from your location require a connection.

What languages are included?

Every route includes Spanish and British English. The English version is adapted for English-speaking travellers, rather than translated word for word.

How do I get a whole city for free?

Join the waitlist, choose a city and confirm your email address. When the app launches, we will email you with access details. No card is required. You can also try one free route in every city.

Can I buy for myself or for a group?

Yes. Your own access is included and you can choose 0–5 guests: up to 6 people including you. Each guest saves up to €0.50 on a walk, €1 on a pack or €2 on a whole city compared with buying separately. The counter shows the total before you confirm one payment.

How do I share, and when must guests accept?

After paying, share your purchase’s invitation link. Each guest opens it in Podtour and accepts their place on their own iPhone or Android phone. They must redeem it within 30 days of purchase. Unclaimed places then expire and cannot be recovered or renewed. Access accepted in time is kept. Opening the link does not use a place; one account takes just one place, and no more people can join once all places are taken.

Can I add guests after buying?

No. Choose all your guests before confirming the first purchase. Afterwards you can share the places you paid for, but you cannot increase their number or restart the 30-day deadline.
