How Podtour works

Podtour terms of use

Last updated: .

These terms explain how you can use Podtour: the iPhone and Android app and the podtour.app website. By using the app, creating an account or buying, you accept them. The privacy policy explains what data we process and why.

In short

Who provides the service

Podtour is a service run by Alberto Rodríguez Fernández, a self-employed professional, NIF 47521645B, Calle Teodoro Álvarez Martín, 4, 45920 La Torre de Esteban Hambrán (Toledo), Spain. In these terms we call it “Podtour”, “we” or “us”.

Contact: hello@podtour.app.

What Podtour is

Podtour offers narrated audio walks through European cities, in Spanish and British English. Each walk has stops, a map and a transcript of every chapter. You decide when each stop plays: nothing starts on its own.

Podtour is not a guided tour. Walks don’t include admission to monuments, transport, mobile data, accommodation or any other travel services.

You need a phone that supports the version of the app offered by your store. The catalogue, the map, purchases and downloads need an internet connection.

There is no advertising in Podtour.

With or without an account

Without an account you can browse cities and walks, and listen to each city’s introduction, the previews, the “Before you go” guide and each city’s free walk. Your progress stays on that phone.

With an account you can also buy, invite guests, redeem invitations, download walks to listen offline and keep your progress on several phones.

You can sign in with your email address (we send you a link, no password), with Apple or with Google. Use an email address you control and don’t share sign-in links. Each account is personal. If you think someone has got into yours, email us.

You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile > Privacy > Delete account) or by emailing us. Before you do, please note:

The privacy policy explains what data is deleted and what is kept.

Age

Podtour is designed for people aged 14 and over. Children under 14 may only create an account with permission from a parent or guardian, or within an activity organised by their school, which collects that permission. A child needs a parent’s or guardian’s permission to buy. Apple and Google offer parental controls for purchases.

Purchases

What you can buy:

Every purchase includes the audio in Spanish and English. They are one-off purchases: you pay once. There are no subscriptions or renewals.

Price. Before you pay, the app shows the price set by the store for your country, in your currency and including any taxes the store applies. Prices may change over time. A change does not affect what you have already bought.

Payment. You pay Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). The store handles the payment, the receipt, the taxes it is responsible for and refunds, under its own terms. Podtour never receives your card details. The podtour.app website does not sell anything: all purchases are made in the app.

Checks. Our server checks every purchase with Apple or Google before granting access. If your access doesn’t appear, tap “Restore purchases” or email us.

Bundles and cities. If you already own some of the walks in a bundle or city, the app tells you. The price of the bundle or city does not deduct what you have already bought. You can also buy the remaining walks separately.

What a purchase includes over time. A purchase includes the walks that were part of the product when you bought it. Corrections and improvements to those walks reach you at no extra cost. Walks added to a bundle or city later are not included.

Your access. What you buy does not expire: you can listen to it for as long as you keep your account and Podtour provides the service (see “Availability and changes to the service”). It is linked to the Podtour account you used to buy it. You use it on iPhone and Android by signing in with that account. If you change phones, sign in with the same account; you can also tap “Restore purchases”. A purchase cannot be moved from one Podtour account to another.

Guests

How it works.

Deadline. Places must be redeemed within 30 days of the purchase date recorded by the store. Sharing the link again or restoring purchases does not restart the period. After 30 days, unredeemed places expire. Podtour does not refund the part of the payment for those places, without prejudice to what the store decides or the law provides (see “Refunds and cancellation”).

After redemption. A redeemed place is permanent and cannot be passed to someone else. Guests’ access depends on the purchase. If Apple or Google refunds or cancels the purchase, the buyer and all their guests lose access, including guests who had already redeemed their place. If you plan to ask for a refund, tell your guests first. Access that anyone has from other purchases is not affected.

Using invitations. Invitations are for the people you choose. You may not sell or resell places or links, or publish them for anyone to use.

Downloads and offline listening

The content

What it is. The walks tell researched stories and keep documented fact apart from legend. They are educational and entertainment content. They are not professional advice or an official source.

Synthetic voices. The narration is created with synthetic voices, generated with artificial intelligence (ElevenLabs), from scripts written by Podtour. We don’t listen to every recording before publishing it, so there may be mistakes in pronunciation, intonation or content. If you spot one, email us with the city, walk, stop and language. We’ll review it and correct it if needed. Corrections reach you at no extra cost.

Images and maps. Some photographs belong to third parties and are used under their licences. Some cover images are created with artificial intelligence: they depict the places and are not documentary photographs. Credits and licences are in the app (About Podtour > Credits and acknowledgements) and on the website (podtour.app/en/credits). Maps use data © OpenStreetMap contributors.

Practical information. Opening hours, prices, access and the tips in “Before you go” or in the walks may change. Check official sources before you go.

External links. If you open a third-party website or app from Podtour, its own terms apply.

What you can do with the content

While you have access, we give you permission to listen to and view Podtour content in the app for your own personal, private use. This permission is non-exclusive and cannot be transferred.

Without our written permission you may not:

The Podtour brand, texts, audio, design and app belong to their owner or to those who license them to us. Third-party content under open licences, such as some photographs or OpenStreetMap data, keeps its licence and you may use it under that licence. Nothing here limits what the law allows you to do, such as quotation.

Using the service properly

Don’t use Podtour to:

Our internal dashboard flags unusual purchase and redemption activity for a person to review. Nothing is blocked automatically. If we find serious or repeated misuse, we may suspend or close the account and remove access obtained improperly. We’ll tell you why and you can reply, unless the law or security prevents it. If we got it wrong, we’ll restore your access. We don’t remove anything you bought legitimately, except in the cases set out in these terms.

Out on a walk

Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep Podtour running smoothly, but there may be interruptions due to maintenance, faults, problems with the stores or providers, or your connection. We’ll try to fix them as soon as possible.

We may add, correct and improve walks and features. Free content may also change. Sometimes you’ll need to update the app to keep using it.

If we have to withdraw a walk you bought for a valid reason, such as third-party rights, safety or legal obligations, we’ll tell you and offer you another walk in the same city or help you request a refund from the store.

If we ever stop providing the service, we’ll tell you in the app or by email at least 3 months in advance.

Guarantee and liability

The content you buy must match its description in the app. If a walk you bought doesn’t work or doesn’t match its description, email us. We’ll try to fix it at no cost and within a reasonable time. If that isn’t possible, you have the rights consumer law gives you, such as a price reduction or ending the contract with a refund.

We are liable for damage we cause you, in accordance with the law. We are not liable for things outside our control, for example:

None of the above limits our liability for death or personal injury we cause, for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law. Nor does it limit your rights as a consumer.

Refunds and cancellation

Because you pay Apple or Google, refunds are requested from the store:

Each store decides under its own terms and the law. Podtour cannot itself refund a purchase made on the App Store. If you have a problem with a purchase, email us too and we’ll help.

Walks, bundles and cities are digital content supplied immediately, not on a physical medium. Consumer law generally gives you 14 days to cancel a distance purchase. That right may not apply to digital content once supply has begun, if you gave your express consent and acknowledged that you would lose it. For in-app purchases, this process is handled by the store. These terms do not limit any rights the law gives you.

If a purchase is refunded or cancelled, we remove the access that depends on it, including your guests’ access. Its downloads stop working when the phone next connects or, at the latest, when their 30-day permission expires.

The waitlist free city

Terms of the “One whole city, on us” offer.

Apple and Google

If you download Podtour from the App Store or Google Play, the store’s terms also apply. On the App Store, the app licence is Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement. Apple and Google are not parties to these terms. Podtour’s content and support are our responsibility: if you have any questions, email us.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the service, the law or the stores’ rules change. The date at the top shows the current version. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it applies. Changes do not reduce what you have already bought. If you don’t agree, you can stop using Podtour.

Governing law and complaints

These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country. If there is a dispute, you can go to the courts that have jurisdiction under the law; if you are a consumer, also to the courts where you live, where the law allows.

If you have a complaint, email hello@podtour.app. We’ll reply as soon as possible and within one month at most. Podtour is not a member of any consumer arbitration scheme. You can also contact the consumer protection services in your region or country.
