There's a Lisbon that is sung and another that is written, often on the same street. This theme brings fado, poets and cafés together to approach the city their protagonists knew. The walks connect creative work with daily life: places to work, talk and find a voice for telling Lisbon in another way.
In “From the Rossio to the Mouraria”: Questions about fado's origins and the woman who became a song connect music, neighbourhood and popular memory.
In “Cais do Sodré and the Bica”: The walk begins in the square that remembers the liberals' entry into the city in 1833, with a spies' café on the quay and a hotel where Jules Verne dined and where Eça de Queirós had his hero first set eyes on the woman of his life.
In “Lower Alfama: From the River to Fado”: It carries on through the Jewish quarter of the evening bell, the fishermen's church and the streets of the knife-carrying faia, and ends at the Museu do Fado, once a water pumping station, with what happened to fado when the State decided to keep an eye on it.

Light over the Tagus, patterned pavements and streets that change gradient without warning. Lisbon rewards a mixture of walking, shade and a pause to look at the river.
