The Mezquita and the Jewish Quarter
You start in front of two statues that everyone photographs without asking why both are of exiles.
Cross the Guadalquivir in eleven stops: a monument that lists a city's fears, boats at the Bridge Gate, the little shrine where the executed were received, a tower that locked up just about everyone, and the battle that, tradition has it, gave the far bank its name.

You start where Calle Torrijos begins, with a mother who accuses her son of planning to hand the city over, and his reply that the truth will be seen in the field. Before you cross, the Triumph of Saint Raphael: a bishop who paid for it and died without seeing it finished, and a sturgeon carved in stone. At the Puerta del Puente, Philip the Second and a flood that brought boats into the city. On the bridge, arches carried off by the river, the little stone shrine where the executed were received, a Saint Raphael the city thanked as its doctor, and a gentleman who turned his horse round on a scaffold. In the Calahorra, prisoners from half the world. You finish on the far bank, where people fished for firewood with hooks and where, in 1368, the truth was seen.

A narrow lane, an open square, then shade again. Córdoba is a rewarding walk when heat, cobbles and the appeal of a seat can adjust your plans.

You start in front of two statues that everyone photographs without asking why both are of exiles.

You start in the old Herrería, the blacksmiths' street, where in 1473 a girl spilled a little water from a window and a blacksmith shouted that it was urine.

You start beside the walls of San Basilio, the old Alcázar Viejo, a neighbourhood that held out against six breaches in 1368 and where, the story goes, the women fought with pikes and sticks.

Unclaimed places then expire and cannot be recovered or renewed. Access accepted in time is kept. Opening the link does not use a place; one account takes just one place, and no more people can join once all places are taken.
